One of the biggest problems that people have who work from home is getting others to take their work seriously. People assume that just because you work from home you are free to chat on the phone or even babysit for a friend at the last minute. You need to take yourself seriously by demanding respect for your work at home position. Telling people “no” or not answering personal calls when you are working is acceptable behavior. Eventually people will get it that you are working and cannot be disturbed.
I officially announced on April 11th. I decided that on 4-11 we would give a “411”! Slowly others started announcing. In the beginning I didn’t know who all of the opponents would be. I knew about Mary O’Connor, but I didn’t know about Gavin or even that Doherty was not going to run for re election. The rest of the folks jumped in on the race just recently.
Whenever I tried to call Earthlink customer service (1-888-EARTHLINK), I was placed on hold for AT LEAST 5 minutes every call. On many occasions, when I was finally put through to a customer service representative, they weren’t money well able to help me, due to problems with Earthlink. Wouldn’t it be effective to have some sort of message while on hold saying that there are outages in my area? Why am I typing in my account number when before I’m placed on hold, anyway? Absolutely ridiculous. On a variety of other occasions, the line was simply cut off.
Many men believe that alimony and spousal support are no longer needed, but the journey toward job employment opportunity has not ended, and many distorted situations exist. It can cut both ways, so courts may surprise you with an award of spousal support at the very beginning of a case.
Potential employers can’t ask about age and judge a hire based on that. But it doesn’t take much for someone to calculate a reasonable approximation of your age if you are asked to include in an application or on your resume a year for high school and/or college graduation.
Again this is age discrimination based on age stereotypes. If the job is a physical one, you can ask all applicants to demonstrate that they can do the job duties as long as the older applicants are not singled out.
